I'm new to this forum also, but I have been collecting coins for almost 40 years, wow I am getting old. Anyway, I bought this coin on E-bay a few years back and then sent it in to PCGS to get graded. I would like to know what you guys think it came back graded at. I know it doesn't make that much difference in price in this grade, but I just wanted some other opinions. I didn't scan the reverse, but it definitely doesn't take away from the grade. I now use ANACS so I save money, so I can buy more Morgans...Ok, I'm probably just borderline compulsive! I mostly collect Morgans, and also Walking Liberty Halves. I used to have the whole Lincoln set when I was young, but have sold them all since I had to buy more and more morgans.

I was at a coin show on Saturday & I loved the Mercury dimes. I was wondering how expensive it would be to have an uncirculated collection going? I already have set of Morgans and Franklins going so it take up most of my $$. What should I look for in a dime? Can I go by the Red Book?

NGC has engineered a new holder which suspends a coin within prongs to enable viewing of its edge. This holder is made from the same high-quality, inert materials as the regular NGC holder, and differs by the addition of four small cutaway windows that surround the coin. This addresses a need long felt by collectors of edge varieties which are especially important in several series, including pattern coins, territorial coins and Bust Half Dollars.
The first coin to be encapsulated within this holder is a 1907 Large Edge Letters $20, graded PR64 by NGC. Although all proof 1907 $20’s are very rare, this Large Edge Letters variant is believed to be unique. The collar with which this coin was struck was used for the high relief issue, and the edge letters are noticeably larger than then those seen on most Arabic Numerals (or low relief) issues, including other known proofs. In this instance, the edge detail is especially noteworthy, and the NGC’s holder with pronged core insert allows the edge to be seen.

Superior Galleries, Inc. announced today that it was awarded the Dr. Allan Mandelstamm Collection of U.S. type coins that will anchor its February 2006 Beverly Hills Elite auction. The Dr. Allan Mandelstamm Collection has a multi-million dollar insured value, and contains many impressive highlights that seldom cross the auction block. The collection was assembled over a 19-year period with considerable assistance from veteran Superior Galleries Private Client Service Group leader, Mike Bonham. Said Mr. Bonham, "I am extremely excited to be a part of the process of helping Dr. Mandelstamm market his coins. Dr. Mandelstamm's uncompromising high standards for quality will pay tremendous dividends as new buyers compete to acquire these carefully chosen rarities, all of which exhibit beautiful, original surfaces."

This is just a quick scan, but I thought you might enjoy seeing a strike through lamination. The lamination peeled off, and what was left was 921. You can still see a very faint 1 if you tip the coin just right with magnification.

Hi all, I am still working on a certified short set of Walkers. I am trying to stick with NGC, no reason though. I have read however that PCGS is preferred by some, also command more money. Why??
